Week 30

Your 15.2- to 16.7-inch, 2.5- to 3.8-pound baby continues to grow.  (Although my other books agree that she’s about 17 inches long and over 3 pounds.)

Her brain is getting wrinklier — to make way for all that essential brain tissue.  Instead of movements being reflexes, she’s beginning to use her brain to control her body.

Her skin is getting smoother.

She’s now strong enough to grasp a finger!

From Jessyka:  I woke up this morning to sunshine!  With the end of sockeye season and the constant rain, it has definitely began to feel like fall.  A sunshine day will change that!  Yay summer!

It was a tough week, jumping into the busiest time at work as soon as I got back from Portland.  Wednesday evening 6 foodies (writers, chefs, and a photographer) arrived in Cordova.  Between then and Sunday, they went gillnetting, kayaking, berry-picking, took tours of processors, listened to fishery management and fishermen, and ate a lot of food.

Jonah spent his weekend orchestrating the beer garden at the Salmon Jam,  He mastered the cooling system and poured beers until 1am each night.  All the beers were Denali Brewing Co. and very tasty from what I heard.  Hopefully we’ll can get some pictures to show you up here.  The beer garden is becoming a family enterprise, check out my post about running it last year.  Soon Harper will be running it!

One of the Salmon Jam bands did a cover of this Brandi Carlile song, The Story.  Makes me tear up every time.
