Week 27

Rutabaga Ruta-baby!

At 13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, she’s not just getting bigger, she’s getting smarter.

She’s practicing inhaling and exhaling with her rapidly developing lungs.

It’s official: Baby’s showing brain activity! And her brain will keep on getting more complex.

From Jessyka: thebump.com asks me this week if I’m ready for the home stretch.  Week 27 marks the beginning of the third trimester.  Second trimester, I will miss you dearly, you were much easier to handle than the first trimester. I’m ready though!  It feels like the preparation I’ve done so far has been for bring pregnant, now that I have that handled (uh, yeah right), I can start preparing for birth.  Jonah and I watched the Labor & Delivery dvd from My Birth Class last night.  Also I’ve been doing my squat exercises and need to start practicing relaxation techniques.

Physically I’m feeling pretty good.  My legs definitely strain walking up hills with my added 15+ pounds, but I’m still enjoying walks to work and around town during lunch with Jonah.  The hard part of pregnancy these days?  The crying, lots of crying.  Sometimes I have no idea why, sometimes the tiniest thing will set it off – tears come when I’m happy, stressed, upset, or witness anyone else having emotion.  Damn the hormones!

Hopefully this video will make you cry too, just so I’m not the only one.
